Umpqua River Basin – Streamflow, Lake & Tide Gages

Historical daily flow and lake level statistics for 38 gages, and tide forecasts for 3 NOAA tide stations

About the Umpqua River Basin

The Umpqua is the largest river system between the Columbia and the Klamath that rises in the Cascades and flows through the Coast Range to the Pacific. The North Umpqua drains the High Cascades around Diamond Lake and Mount Thielsen and is famous for summer steelhead fly fishing and whitewater; its upper river is regulated by PacifiCorp’s North Umpqua Hydroelectric Project. The South Umpqua and Cow Creek drain the lower, rain-fed western Cascades and Klamath Mountains, with high winter flows and very low summer flows; Galesville Dam regulates Cow Creek. The two forks meet at River Forks near Roseburg, and the mainstem Umpqua flows past Elkton and Scottsburg to Reedsport and Winchester Bay. River Flow Planner covers 38 gages here: USGS and OWRD streamflow gages from the Cascade headwaters to Elkton (the Umpqua River near Elkton record began in 1905), five PacifiCorp power canals, and the levels of Galesville Reservoir, Diamond Lake and Lemolo Lake. Three OWRD stations (Berry Creek, Deer Creek and Elk Creek near Drain) have published daily flow records only for past decades, though Douglas County still reports their current river stage; Little River at Peel now records river stage only; and three USGS gages began in 2024 or 2025, so their statistics describe those periods only. It also covers 3 NOAA tide prediction stations in the Umpqua River estuary.

What River Flow Planner shows for each gage
