Owyhee River Basin – Streamflow & Reservoir Gages

Historical daily statistics for 3 gages

About the Owyhee River Basin

The Owyhee Basin, as defined by the Oregon Water Resources Department, covers the Oregon part of the Owyhee River watershed in the far southeast corner of the state: high-desert plateaus and deep basalt and rhyolite canyons from the Nevada line past Rome to Lake Owyhee, then down to the Snake River near Adrian, along with Jordan, Crooked and Succor creeks. Spring snowmelt from Idaho, Nevada and Oregon brings a short high-water season that draws whitewater boaters to the remote canyons below Rome, and much of the river is a federal Wild and Scenic River. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s Owyhee Dam (1932) stores the water in Lake Owyhee for irrigation around Nyssa, Adrian and Ontario; the lake is popular for boating, fishing and camping, and the river below the dam is a tailwater trout fishery. River Flow Planner covers 3 gages here: the Owyhee River near Rome (records back to 1949), the Owyhee River below Owyhee Dam (back to 1929) and Lake Owyhee. Idaho Power’s gages on Succor Creek and on the Owyhee River near Adrian have no current public daily records, so they are not included.
